Advanced Safety and User Experience encompasses our deep expertise in software, centralized computing platforms, advanced safety systems and automated driving focusing on five areas that are transforming mobility: Safety Electronics, Infotainment, User Experience, Autonomous Driving (AD) and Connectivity & Security.

Within AS&UX, the team is working in the Systems & Products Vehicle Architecture (SPVA) group. Primary focus is Vehicle SW Architecture – Cybersecurity and OTA (Over-the-Air).

About this position

We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Manager OTA for our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in our Wuppertal (Germany) location.

Included in the System & Product Vehicle Architecture group, the SW Architecture – Cybersecurity & OTA team is in charge to drive the technology, architect, support customer pursuits and deploy Cybersecurity & OTA at all levels of the vehicle architecture and cross products.

The Technical Manager Vehicle OTA is the OTA technical lead for the Vehicle. This role, requiring a holistic understanding of the OTA technology as well as DevOps and Cloud, would ideally be filled by an individual with Software background (Embedded or Cloud but ideally both) having a broad knowledge of SW update on targets, Diagnostic, Connected Services, wireless connectivity, IVN, DevOps. The Technical Manager Vehicle OTA is the primary interface to stakeholders for OTA Solutions and strategy.

Your Role:

• Take ownership of the Vehicle OTA Technologies:

  • Responsible for defining the OTA technology roadmaps

  • Responsible for the OTA strategy at the vehicle level

  • Responsible for evaluating supplier technologies and solutions; maintaining supplier selection matrix and selected preferred partners

  • Accountable for definition of the OTA architecture, the network protocols and OTA communications

  • Drive customer pursuits requirements related to OTA Systems, provide technical concepts/solutions

  • Follow customer roadmaps and markets demands

  • Support the Vehicle OTA architects in:

    • Defining the OTA steps, control, data exchange and granularity

    • Creating and maintaining OTA best practices and guidelines

    • Writing guidelines for the flashing firmware and diagnostic as well as hardware requirements for OTA

    • Reviewing the conformance to the reference Vehicle Systems Architecture

    • Providing consistent solutions from the architecture to the products and maximizing the re-use

    • Establishing dashboards to collect architecture KPIs related to OTA

• Approve OTA SW Cybersecurity mitigations with Vehicle Cybersecurity Architects

• Support establishment of dashboards and analytics for the data generated by the vehicle

• Steer APTIV cloud, middleware and DevOps in using the best OTA technologies selected for the vehicle architecture

• Join as an active member major and leading industry consortiums like COVESA, Autosar or eSYNC

• Follow major OTA standards with the Standard and Regulation teams:

  • Evaluate the impact and changes on the Vehicle OTA

  • Participate with inputs on demand base

• Share your knowledge to the rest of the company by writing guides, best practices and leading courses and trainings; skilled in presenting in English in front of large audience, other languages (German, French) appreciated

• Maintain state of the art knowledge by attending Conferences, Workshops and Trainings

Your Background:

• University degree in SW Engineering or an equivalent field with a strong experience in automotive industry Knowledge of worldwide and/or European OTA regulations and standards ecosystem

• Proven skills in Automotive Software domain

• Ability to communicate internally and externally as well as create and maintain a sustainable network

• Ability to listen, learn, analyze, negotiate and influence decision-makers

• Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate

• Analytical mind and clear reporting

• Team spirit and high motivation degree

• Ability to prioritize based on corporate guidelines and strive to drive projects to success

• Fluent verbal and written English; German is a plus
